Covid 19

The latest lockdown plan indicates that social distancing and limited numbers will be mandated until phase 4.  While the majority of the volunteers who run the market fall within the higher at-risk category and the difficulties associated with managing people in the Wellmeadow it is unlikely that the markets will return until either there is a local relaxation or we reach phase 4.

Dates for 2020

“Opportunity to promote local producers”

10am – 3pm in Wellmeadow, Blairgowrie

on the following Saturdays:

25th April Cancelled

23rd May Cancelled

27th June Cancelled

25th July Cancelled

22nd August TBC

26th September TBC

Our fees are kept low because the market is run on a not-for-profit basis by volunteers but we are faced with increased costs as much as everyone else.

Stall fees are payable one week in advance or in cash on the day, with invoices being issued two weeks in advance.  Hire of Gazebo remains at £70.  You can now pay your hire fees via PayPal - PayPal.Me

Booking cancellations with less than 7 days notice will incur a £40 charge, unless a replacement vendor can be found.  Stall holders who book but fail to turn up are still liable for the charge.  There is a 10% discount for pre paid bookings made before the start of the season for all six dates.   If leaving us a message to say you will be late or need to cancel your place please do so by the day before the market.  A message on facebook or email will not reach us if sent at the last minute.  We leave to set the market up by 0700 on the morning and do not start looking at a computer on Saturday morning.

The market does not work if there are no vendors, so we will be flexible if possible, but customers get disappointed if an expected stall is not there.  Remember reliable attendance is the key to repeat business.

Each of the market stalls has a plastic skirt.  This can be used for advertising your business and will be displayed on a stall.  Cost per annum per skirt £200 plus the cost of printing for which you will need to send us a pdf of your artwork.  A maximum of 10 skirts are available.

In the event of predicted adverse weather, especially high winds and driving rain, in the interests of safety and protecting stallholders' stock, markets may be cancelled at short notice.  If this happens any pre paid fees will be refunded.  Refunds will be paid to the account from which the booking fee came, so if you wish it to be sent somewhere else please let us know!  We may also close the market early if weather conditions deteriorate during the day, concerns of which mean we do not schedule markets during autumn and winter.  While we endeavour to contact all stallholders in the event of any change to the schedule, this is not always possible for a variety of reasons, including your own uncontactability!  Stallholders are advised to check back with this website prior to any market as any changes will always be reflected here.  This is particularly relevant at times of potential bad weather.

Food Safety Guide

Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 - Conditions for Food Vendors (pdf)

If you would like to book a stall along you can download an application form (pdf) here which includes the guidelines and rules (data can be entered, save the form and email to the Market Manager).  The form can be completed electronically but it does need to be downloaded first, edited, saved and can then be emailed back to us.  If your browser is configured to open pdf documents in Adobe instead of the browser it it is much easier.

If you are looking for further information please email or telephone Sue on 01828 640763/07764 273441

We are looking for schools, choirs, bands, orchestras, local musicians or street entertainers who wish to celebrate their talents and raise funds by entertaining those who attend the market.

Taste of Strathmore

In the spring there’s a great selection of seasonal vegetables on sale.  So it is the perfect opportunity to give your diet a spring clean and make sure you are getting at least five portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables each day.
